Mothering in these times
Mothering is a LOT, and the current state of the world is making it feel even more intense.
Join me for an in person workshop series over 6 weeks, and feel more supported and equipped to navigate it all.
We are so tired, beyond tired.
We’re angry.
Done with the idea that mothers can ‘have it all’, the ‘home/work balance’, the ‘mothers as martyrs’ ideals society expects of us.
Yet we’re left holding it all together, struggling to find another way.
We’re worried about the future our children are facing, the AI race, climate crisis, cost of living crisis, global powers starting wars.
Then switching into ‘mum mode’, cooking dinner, picking up from nursery/school/clubs, juggling all the responsibilities.
That gear shift is taking a toll on us.
I don’t have all the answers, (not something you'd expect me to say when I’m offering a series of workshops right?)
But I’m fed up with wellness brands and coaches, health influencers, ‘experts’ telling us we need to optimise, find a hack, scheduling tool or something else to solve the problem. Or that it’s our individual failing if we’re finding this hard.
We know it takes a ‘village’ to raise a child and we’re living in a society without those structures of support.
You aren’t broken or doing it wrong, you are a wonderfully imperfect human trying your best (and that’s already good enough!)
What does it look like?
So I’m offering space in which we can come together, learn, talk (rage, cry, laugh!).
I draw on my experiences from my nursing career, work in a loneliness charity, facilitating groups and from my own experience of motherhood so far, to bring us together and be alongside you as we navigate mothering in these uncertain times.
A 6 week programme of workshops and support covering topics such as:
‘Good enough’ parenting
Keeping hold of you
Resourcing ourselves
Coping with the world right now
The sessions will include a mixture of information, resources, ideas, based in evidence which can support us as mothers.
The opportunity to practice with some journaling prompts, reflective time/discussion, some grounding meditation practices.
With a light brunch and hot drinks.
I am aiming for the sessions to have a mixture of:
practices to feel better in the sessions so you leave feeling more grounded and yourself.
really useful information and ways to integrate this into daily life.
and time together with other mums who feel similarly.
All of this will be underpinned by a space of unconditional positive regard,
being gentle with ourselves and each other,
deepening our self compassion,
with me holding the space, being alongside you.
You are welcome to arrive as you are, there is no way of getting it wrong, no marks or grades.
There will be some gentle Whatsapp support available in between, we will discuss as a group what this looks like so we aren’t overwhelmed by yet another space to show up in, but something that can be supportive and another connection between our in person meetings.
Price £150
Pay in one go or in instalments, whichever is easiest for you.
The dates I am considering are 10th, 24th October and 7th, 21st November.
These are Saturday mornings, 10-11:30 am, with a light brunch and hot drinks included.
However! I am aware of how challenging it can be bringing a group of mums together with all our busy diaries, so please do let me know if you are interested but finding the dates/times difficult, there could be some flexibility!
If you have any questions or want to chat more about how it will work, then please drop me a whatsapp message or email me lynne@wanderingtowonder.co.uk, no pressure or obligation.

No, I’d like to run this series so you can give yourself space to think, rest and be with other mums. This is the first iteration of the series so I am keeping things a little simpler, but I know how much childcare is a challenge in mums getting time and space for themselves, so I will be thinking about how groups may be in more inclusive format in the future.

You don’t have to have any experience with any wellbeing practice/exercises. I will guide you through everything, and it is an opportunity to experience, try out, simple exercises which can support us.

I am looking at holding this group at my home in Lancaster, 5 minute walk from the train station, there is parking available on my drive, enclosed space for bikes, or 4 hour free parking on the road a few minutes walk away.
This will hopefully be a more relaxed and comfortable setting, rather than in a hired space or public cafe.

It is very understandable to have some reservations about group settings, talking with other mums you might not know, about personal topics and experiences.
We will be fostering a supportive environment, which will grow over the weeks together. I believe that being together, sharing (what feels comfortable), hearing from each other widens our learning and experience and can support us in building community.
These sessions are not therapy, though I understand we might discuss sensitive areas and I am available for 1:1 conversations outside of the group, and will be mindful of checking in with you as we go.
We will agree confidentiality, and some boundaries which will help us feel more comfortable within the group. If you do feel uncomfortable, have any questions or feedback throughout our time together, please speak to me in person or send me email/whatsapp so I can do my best to support you.

I have designed these as a group of sessions for a group of mums who will get to know each other more over the time. So it wouldn’t work for people to drop in to just one or two sessions. If you are keen to attend them all but finding the dates/times difficult do get in touch because there may be some tweaks we can make. Or I can add you to a list for the next time I run this.
